All about my first steps
Who am l, What am l, What am l doing?
Tootsi is my blog name, and l am 37 years old, female. I love a chalenge, and this is a new one to me! as the years have crept on, as they do, after having three children, huge amount of cake, wine, larger, and virtually no exercise, maybe walking to work or school l have decided anough is anough, with diabeties in the family, l have decided to kick myself up the backside and shift some of the pounds/stones l've put on over the years. How? l hear you asking! wait for it, l have registered for the Edinghbourgh MoonWalk ,26 miles hows that for a challange? yes l am going to do it, and for the sake of my own health, and my family's food bill, l'm pretty determined this time.
Wish me well, leave me a note, ask any questions!

Hi All
Sorry its taken so long to post this message, but l've had just a hectic week or so, The MoonWalk l hear you say, yes l did it, hear goes
A couple of days before the big event, l couldn't find my ipod, that was the first panic, when you train to music, and visulise doing your walk to various tracks, it comes as a bit of a blow, when you realise there isnt going to be any steps, abba, or the noalans blearing down your ears in the wee small hours of the morning, but l got my head round it, asked the kids to have a good look round, no joy! I did a couple of short walks on the final week, but really wantedto conserve energy, knowing this wasnt going to be a walk in the park! Had a couple of restless night's thinking about going on my own, not finishing, being on my own, what am l doing ect, very quickly gave myself a talking to, and got motivated.
The big day, my youngest, hasnt been to good, she's got tonsilites, hubbie took her to out paitents, she's got some pensilyn, dont really like leaving her, when she's like this.
Well the family dropped me off at the station, a couple of moonwalkers were there, so l felt quite exited knowing l was part of a huge event, the weather was lovely, l dont think l could of asked for better, the atmosphere on the train was great, there was quite alot of ladies, all dressed in there t-shirts and caps, nice we all gave eachother a smile and a hello united together in one cause. The journey went really quickly, l'm impressed, l might have to go for a days shopping.
Left Wavely station with two other ladies who l met on route, we got some food supplys from M&S, and then got a taxi, the other adies wanted to be dropped off at the univercity, here comes panic number 2! l got out went in the direction they pointed to me, wrong! move l was going in the wrong direction, anyway soon righted myself with the help of a freindly taxi driver. I soon got reasurense from why l did this on my own.
Speak to you soon for the arrival

My final six days before the big event, l really am looking forward to going to the moonwalk, l've booked my train ticket, checked my ipod, l'm going todo a short walk tonight to keep my muscles going, maybe another on Wednesday and thats it, l just want to get there now, the weather is forcast to be good, which l'm pleased about, oh how much l dont want rain, still havnt decided if l'm walking in a decorated bra or not.
When l first put my name down for this event, l dont think l gave much thourght to the milage, the training involved or how l would feel, l'm so glad l've gone for it, l feel great, much fitter, my clothes look better, l've gone down two dress sizes, and it hasnt all been diet diet diet, l still enjoy my nights out, the odd nibble or two, but you can, aslong as you exercise, l say go for it if your tempted.
Will write again later in the week,

Im really pleased yes l feel a little stiff behind my knees, and bum but not as much as l was expecting, l really do feel good, l could do with a pedicure though my feet look like they need some tlc, should l feel like another walk at this stage? because l do, lm taking this as a possative thing, l'm abit dissapointed as l have just weighed myself and l havn't even lost a pound, l havnt been a saint with my food but also not been bad, l'm determined to get this weight off, so l will stick at it.
I think l might go for a five miler tonight, make the most of this nice weather, winter comes soon anough

Im a bit late posting this blog, but on Sunday l managed todo my 20 mile walk, the first mile or so was a killer, l could of quite happliy gone home back to bed, l only got up halfhour earlier, but not being a morning person this never sits well, l think my muscles hadnt warmed up, as l got a few shooting pains in my legs as l started, once l got over the first couple of miles l was away, the morning was beutiful, just the right tempriture for walking, lmade a real effot not to gulp water down this time , as l seem to spend all my time on the loo otherwise, hubby met me with the kids a few times on route with water, bananas, and moral support wich always helps. When l got to about 17 miles l hit a brick wall, not with pain, or the urge to stop, just found re walking over the same route that l had just done hard, l tried to plan my route not to do this, but couldn't avoid 3 miles of back tracking, this really does prove that most of this challange is in your head. Well l completed my 20 miles and felt really good, my trainers were comfi, and my new socks which my sisiter sent me were fantastic, l got straight into a cool shower which helps, and spent the rest of the day with the kids, 5hrs 50 mins it took not bad l thourght,

Well working up towards my 20 mile walk this weekend, the weather is forcast to be hot, so l think l will skip the sleepin and get a early start, armed with my water bladder, bananas and dextrosol l'm going for it, just a bit worried about my knee, it seems to twang now and again. Felt really tierd this week not really wanted to do much walking, l think your body knows, and you should really listern to it! I've woken in the night a few times now thinking about this callange, l'm not worried or regreting it at all, but a bit like going on holiday, you just want to get there. Not sorted my travel arrangements yet, must get on with that. I've decided Edinbourgh is not quite ready for me in a bra yet, so l'm walking in a t-Shrt, it must go cool through the night, and l dont want to be ill afterwards. Spoken to the moon walk team as l was charged twice by mistake, what a helpfull team.
Must start to work on my quiz, l' hoping to get most of my sponcer money from the one event.

Hi All
Last night decided to go for a evening walk after having a good sleep in, l walked 10 miles last night, at first l really didn't fel in the mood for it, but once l got going there was no stopping me, l seem to be inproving at the start as l have always been a bit of a slow starter, l got to 4.5 miles a hour so l am really pleased with that, l did slow dow towards the end, but you should cool down aswel, the views were fantastic, the sunset makes it all worth while, tv seems to be a bit boring at the moment, l'm sure thats a good sign.
Weigh day tomorrow, l'm hoping for some weight loss, but l have had a few to drink this week and a takeway, l know not good, but all work and no play makes you boring.
I'm going to see how l feel tonight, as when l slowed down last night l twisted my knee, l may go for a small walk, but dont want to spoil things for the big event, this Sunday, l will be doing my 20 miles in preperation.

I really felt like l could keep going, once l get in my stride there's no stopping me. Trying my hardest to keep of the goodies, not sure if that will mean leaving off a glass of wine tonight, Weighed myself today at Boots l've lost a stone, wow something must be working at last.
